Blogmas Day Twenty Four – My Christmas Traditions

Because Christmas is so close, I wanted to do a short post today about my usual Christmas celebrations and traditions. I haven’t done as many personal Christmas posts as I would have liked (I may have gotten carried away with all the other Christmas post inspirations I found) so before it’s too late, I wanted to at least fit in this one. I hope you enjoy it!!

The key (and tips) to mastering Self-discipline!

My younger brother was asking me for advice when it comes to getting work done since the majority of his time is split between school and Waterpolo and the remainder he would prefer to spend relaxing. Eventually, he realised that the real problem is he hasn’t yet developed strong self-discipline. Let me be upfront, it’s not an easy habit to master. Especially if you aren’t naturally inclined that way. Unfortunately, it’s an essential skill to develop because it can help you achieve so much in life. Also, there’s not always going to be someone reminding you or chasing you to work – you need to have that drive on your own. So today, for my little brother and everyone else who feels they want to up their self-discipline game, here are some tips and habits that can help you become a hard-working master of self-discipline!

Fun ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day

Love is in the air, there is an abundance of heart-shaped confectionery everywhere and the pressure for what to do on this day of romance is building. While I love all of the themed chocolate I can get my hands on and love romance in general, the overwhelming pressure to celebrate this day in a sweet, meaningful way can be a bit much. What happens if you can’t afford to go to an expensive restaurant? What do you do if you pulled out all the stops last year but now this year have no idea what to do? What if you’re single and don’t have a date for the night? What do you do if you honestly feel like spending the evening in your sweats and would rather not be seen in public, but don’t want to seem sad and lonely? Oh, this pressure! I don’t know how we cope with it year after year. Well if you want some ideas for fun ways to celebrate Valentine’s day, keep reading!

Embrace Your Geekness!

According to my list of non-official holidays in my diary, today is ‘embrace your geekness’ day, and that’s why Tall Blonde Tales will be celebrating ‘geekness’ in today’s blog post. Now the common thought around being a geek, at least from what I’ve encountered, is that it isn’t a good thing, and the word itself has quite a few negative connotations. The term ‘geek’ used to be a derogatory term to describe circus workers, and from there it was transformed into something of an insult on people. Now the terms nerd and geek are used interchangeably even though they have different meanings. A geek is someone brainy who is good with technology while a nerd is someone with an in-depth knowledge of a particular subject. How I define a geek though, is someone who has a particular affinity or interest in any subject or field. Well, today we are rejecting all negative associations with the term ‘geek’ (as we should generally do, not just today specifically) and celebrating it. Every single one of us is a geek in some way, so don’t feel ashamed of the term. Today, you embrace every aspect of your geekness with open arms!

Fun Ways to Celebrate Mother’s Day

For many countries around the world, tomorrow (Sunday, May 12th) will be Mother’s Day. A chance for us to shower our various mothers in love and appreciation and if you are the mothers, get lots of sincere love and a day filled with fun. Now, as much as getting a gift can be important for some on Mother’s Day, I think the most important thing to think about is how to spend the day. You want to make sure that you get to celebrate it in a fun and exciting way, but also in a way that everyone will enjoy. Everyone is different though, which is why it can sometimes be hard to decide how to spend this lovely day. Sometimes, people spend Mother’s Day with the whole family, and there are big family events and celebrations, but other times, it is just the two of you. No matter how many of you are celebrating Mother’s Day together though, you all deserve to do something fun and that you enjoy. So, if you are struggling to find inspiration, here are a few suggestions for fun ways to spend Mother’s Day.
