It’s October, and whether it is Spring or Autumn, October only means one thing for many people. Halloween. That’s right. October is the month for spooks, ghosts and ghouls. Where everyone decks out their houses in the creepiest decor, the costumes come out, and all you can see in the stores is the spooky-themed candy. Personally, I’ve never been one to celebrate the haunted holiday, but I can certainly see why so many others love it. However, I can also see why many people raise their eyebrows at the mere thought of Halloween and say that it is merely a waste of time and money. There are two sides to every coin, and there are certainly pros and cons to the spooky Halloween holiday so today that is what I’d like to dive into. The pros and cons of Halloween. Is the holiday a delightful treat as everyone makes out, or is it more of a trick than we realise? Today, we’re going to weigh up both sides and decide, so without further ado, let’s talk about the pros and cons of Halloween.
Hi everyone! So I’ve spoken about morning routines and good morning habits that can help set you off on a great day but what about nighttime habits? Is there any point to them, or are they just a waste of time? Some might say that it doesn’t matter what you do before bed because you are about to go to sleep, but I would argue that there are great habits you can get into before bed. Why are they so great? Well, they can help you relax and improve your sleep, but they will also get you ready to have a smooth start to your morning. Doesn’t that sound awesome? Me being OCD and prone to over-organising everything love my before-bed ritual because it calms me down and I know that when I’m ready to close my eyes, I am already partially sorted to start my day tomorrow. Now, these little things you can do before bed may be small and may not suit your lifestyle so pick and choose what best suits you, but doing things like this before bed and turning it into your nighttime ritual can make a big difference in your sleep and how you start your next day. So, without further ado, here are ten of the best things to do before bed – things that can help you sleep and be ready for the next day. I hope you enjoy it!
I’m not sure how many of you reading have siblings, but I’ll take a guess that quite a few of you do. I have siblings myself – two brothers. To make that sibling dynamic a little more complicated, I am the middle child so have an older (by ten years) and younger (by 4 years) brother. Needless to say, because of the age gap and our varying personalities, we don’t always get along so well. Siblings don’t always get along for several different reasons, and this can be when siblings are still young and living at home or when everyone is grown up and living their own lives. Needless to say, though, no one really wants to have a conflict with someone they are related to or someone they live with because it can make things quite tense and unpleasant. So today I thought I’d look at ways to deal with sibling conflict, being a sibling myself and after seeing a mix of both my friends dealing with their siblings and parents dealing with their own squabbling siblings. So, from whichever angle you are coming from in terms of sibling conflict, I hope you enjoy today’s blog post!
Life gets hectic, and that’s okay, but it is essential to remember to take a second to stop speeding and see the sights, or you’ll miss them. To quote the oh so wise Ferris Bueller; “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
So, in light of my more enlightened and grateful attitude, and with the words of Ferris Bueller for all those who are just busy, today I’m going to be talking about gratitude. Why is it actually a good thing to have a gratitude attitude, and how can we be a little more grateful for one small thing each day?
I’ve always loved celebrating events. Birthdays, Christmas, other holidays or just random reasons to throw a party. Something about it just gives me a buzz. Party planning though, particularly for birthdays, can sometimes be more of a nightmare than a fun celebration. There is so much to organise, so much to buy, so much to make and arrange again and sometimes time can run away from you, and the whole thing just ends up being a headache-inducing horror. I’ve had those parties, and they can ruin party planning for a lot of people. But, there is a way to try to keep control over your party, so that you are the one in charge and running the show, not the other way around. By giving yourself a checklist to follow, you don’t eliminate all the stress of party planning, but you can get rid of a lot of it. Because there is a list to follow and a process to help you make sure you don’t miss anything significant. Today I’d like to share with you a checklist to success for party planning, seeing as I’m in that cake and balloons mood already for my own birthday. Now it is only a rough checklist, so feel free to adapt or add to it as you need, but I hope that with this list in hand, party planning will at least be a little easier for you the next time you do it.
With Halloween being such a spooky time, what better opportunity to talk about fears and phobias? I mean just looking at all of the spider decor has given me more shivers and anxiety than I care to admit. We’re all scaredy cats about something, and there is something for everyone that just makes their knees weak, and every single hair stands on end. Whether it is spiders, the dark, clowns, spoons etc. there is something for everyone that raises the hairs on your neck and sends a chill down your spine. Today, I’d like to dive into this topic of fears and phobias, to match up with the setup and count-down to Halloween. So, without further ado, let’s talk about things that scare us shall we? (Cue lightning and an evil cackle).
I’ve always been quite a goal-orientated person, and I love setting myself challenges to try and see if I can achieve them. I also think that setting yourself goals is a great way to help you achieve important things in your life that you may not have focused on, or that needed to be broken up into smaller goals to make more manageable. Goals are good! So, today I’ve decided to share with you what my goals, my mission for this month, are. There are blog-related ones, and personal ones and I hope that by the end of the post you feel inspired to set yourself some small goals. Or, you could just feel encouraged to harass me by making sure I achieve the goals I’ve set out for myself. Either way, I hope that you enjoy today’s blog post about goals for October.
For those of you living in the Northern hemisphere, those bright and hot days of summer are probably long behind you. The leaves have transformed into glorious shades of red and orange. That summer breeze has been replaced by a brisk gust, and it is time to start layering up again with the ever-present chill in the air. Well for those of you living in the Southern hemisphere, however, like myself, our weather is taking a different turn. Those dark days of winter are finally in the background. Sunshine and warmth are no longer a forgotten memory or created by heaters, and there is finally colour seeping back into nature that has been left bare and brown for a long time. Because I live in the Southern hemisphere and am finally getting a taste of spring, I thought I’d share with you a few reasons why spring is just the best season ever. Now if you aren’t currently experiencing spring, close your eyes and imagine that autumn and winter decided to take a break this year and you too get to enjoy the amazingness that is spring. It may not be a very advice-orientated blog, but all of the spring springing up around me is too beautiful to ignore so today, without further ado, I give you ten reasons why spring is the best season ever.
What kind of person are you first thing in the morning? Someone who springs out of bed, ready to start the day with not a second of hesitation? Or maybe someone who rolls over and would rather get an extra few hours of sleep? Personally, I’m a mixture of the two. There are some days where the second my eyes open, I am up and ready to get my day started, but there are others where the only thing I want to do is close my eyes and pretend it is still night time. I’m sure that I’m not the only one who is somewhere in the middle. No matter what type of person you are when the sun comes up, we all still have to get out of bed and face the day ahead, and sometimes it takes a lot of willpower to start the day on a good note. Well, today, that is what I would like to discuss. How you can start each and every day on as good a note as possible, because even though we all wake up differently and have different things to face, there are a few things you can do the night before and in the morning itself that can set you up to have a great start to your day. It may not give you a positive protective bubble for the entire day, but it can start you off on the right note. If you’re interested in reading these tips, keep reading 🙂
Weight loss is a battle that I’m sure a lot of us have faced or are currently facing. We are always striving for that perfect body, to lose a little bit more weight and to look a little bit trimmer. Unfortunately, life makes it hard to stay focused on weight-loss and making the healthier choice. All things that taste good are always more laden with calories than anything else, unhealthy food is a lot more convenient, and sometimes that takeaway meal is just calling to you too strong for you to ignore. I also didn’t realise that there are a few tricks you can use that can make a world of difference in trying to lose weight. These tricks have helped me out a lot, not because they are the precise and perfect weight-loss method, but because they make losing weight and being healthier, in general, a little bit easier. So, here are ten easy weight-loss hacks, or tips, that could help make things a little easier on your weight-loss journey. I hope you enjoy this post and find at least one tip that works for you!
