Goals for October – My Mission this Month

I’ve always been quite a goal-orientated person, and I love setting myself challenges to try and see if I can achieve them. I also think that setting yourself goals is a great way to help you achieve important things in your life that you may not have focused on, or that needed to be broken up into smaller goals to make more manageable. Goals are good! So, today I’ve decided to share with you what my goals, my mission for this month, are. There are blog-related ones, and personal ones and I hope that by the end of the post you feel inspired to set yourself some small goals. Or, you could just feel encouraged to harass me by making sure I achieve the goals I’ve set out for myself. Either way, I hope that you enjoy today’s blog post about goals for October.

Blog-related Goals

  • Reach 200 followers

The follower count has slowly been growing, and while I would like to be more optimistic and say 250, I’d rather save that for the end of the year as that seems more achievable to me at this point in time. I can’t believe that my goal is to reach 200 followers, but that’s what I’m hoping for (so don’t forget to follow everyone! Let’s get to 200!)

  • Take a blogging course online

To be honest, I’ve never actually taken a blogging course. I bought one of those handbooks/guidebooks but didn’t do much else. Apart from looking at tons of Pinterest posts. But, now that I’ve been blogging for a while, I thought it might actually be worthwhile to do a course. There are always new things to learn, and I am definitely not an expert, so doing an online course might be just the thing that helps me propel this blog onward and upward? I’ll never know unless I try it out, right?

  • Be more present on social media

I’ve never been particularly present on social media, especially regarding this blog. I mean sure I have Instagram and Facebook, but I don’t post particularly often and definitely not in a structured, planned out way for this blog. Well, this month, I am going to at least try to be more present on social media with regards to this blog. If I manage to stick to it, which I hope I do, then I think I might put together an actual plan and approach for social media posts. I know how many more people I could reach through social media if I committed to it properly, so it is time to actually do it now.

  • Actually sort out the site and different sections

There is a lot of maintenance I’ve meant to do on the site like update individual pages, change a few features and maybe add a few things. The only problem is that I keep giving myself an excuse to avoid it. Well, the excuses are all dried up now so hopefully, by the end of the month, Tall Blonde Tales will have a fresh new look to it. There it is, in writing … Maybe that wasn’t the best idea to give you all this information …

  • Write posts ahead of schedule

I’ve recently gotten into this bad habit of not writing my posts ahead of schedule. I usually only write them the day I post or the evening before. The only problem with this is that it becomes quite stressful if I can’t think of a blog topic and have left it so last minute to get everything done. This month, I’m going to try to stop inflicting stress on myself in this way and get my posts done a day or two before. Maybe even write a few in advance. That way, I have more time to focus on achieving other goals (like the one about site maintenance eek).

Personal Goals

  • Drink 2 litres of water and four cups of green tea a day

Have you ever promised yourself that you would start drinking more water and for the first few days, you are as good as your word, but then you start slacking and all of a sudden you’re back to the puny amount you were drinking before? I keep telling myself that I must drink more water, especially because I feel rubbish when I get dehydrated and green tea because of the health benefits. Unfortunately, I end up focusing too much on one on a particular day and end up not drinking enough of the other. From now on, I am going to keep track of my glasses/cups in one of my hundred notebooks. Hydration and green tea health benefits, here I come.

  • Start and finish at least two books

I’m sure I’m not the only bookworm who loves going book shopping, even when you have quite a few unread books waiting on your shelf. Worse than that though, is that I haven’t found the time or allocated myself time, to read and I love reading. This month I am taking a stand. No more book shopping until I have read all of the ones waiting for me on my shelf. I will also start and finish (because sometimes I start a book, and get sidetracked by work, so I never end up finishing it) at least two books. Reading is such a relaxing activity for me. It is about time I take the things that make me feel peaceful seriously and make them essential factors in my life again.

  • Start a new puzzle

Building puzzles has always been a massive stress-reliever for me. Something about putting all of the little pieces together, working slowly to make 1000 little things into one beautiful work of art just makes me feel peaceful and so satisfied. I got really into my puzzles while in grade 12 as it helped me cope with a lot of the stress. Now I may not be as stressed out, but puzzles also put my mind at ease so even if I don’t finish a puzzle this month, I am definitely going to start one. At this rate, I am going to be so peaceful at the start of November I won’t even recognise myself.

  • Grow my little plants

So as some of you might know, I started a gardening project with my boyfriend to try and cultivate my green thumb. A little update, it is actually going surprisingly well. My goal for this month is both to stay committed to my gardening project and keep growing it a little bigger, bit by bit. It has been so much fun growing these plants from scratch – my goal is to keep growing them so that in the next few months, I might just have something to show for it all at our next big family meal. Who knows maybe a lot of the fresh produce this Christmas will be from this little gardening project? Fingers crossed.

  • Cut out sugar and junk (mostly)

One of my biggest weaknesses is chocolate. And pizza. And pastries. Oh, let’s just say sugar and junk food in general because it all just tastes so good. This month I am saying no more (mostly) because I am on a health kick and have a significant health goal that I want to have achieved by the end of this year. As much as I love all of that deliciousness, it isn’t helping me get any closer to my goals. So, I’m not going to cut it out 100% because I know that is going to just make me crave things and make me jealous of people who are enjoying them, but I am going to cut out the majority because the truth is I just don’t need it.

  • Organise my cupboard

This is something I have been threatening to do for a long time. The time has come though, to finally just do it. There are so many things in my cupboard that I have put in random places when I was in a hurry or just a lot of things that I simply don’t use or wear anymore. Even though I hate to do these sorts of things, there is no point in keeping things that I no longer use or wear when those same things could be far more beneficial to someone who would actually take advantage of them. This month, the cupboard gets organised. I hope those dust balls are quivering in fear.

  • Lose 5kg

Last but not least, and this goes with my cutting out junk goal, is to lose 5kg by the end of the month. Now, this ties in with the big goal that I am trying to achieve by the end of the year, and as I have broken it down, I would like to lose 5kg this month. I know it is a challenge, but I am looking forward to it and think that if I really set my mind to it and commit to the plan I have made for myself, it won’t actually be as hard as I think it is.

And so there you have it. These are the goals that I would like to achieve by the end of this month. Halloween! Please feel free to reach out and ask me, or remind me, how I’m going with achieving these goals throughout the month. I could do with a bit of external pressure. For my questions to all of you:

  • What are your goals for this month? Personal or otherwise?

Please feel free to share your thoughts and goals in the comments section, and I look forward to hearing them all. I want to thank you all so much for reading, and I hope you enjoyed this blog post. Please don’t forget to like the post if you haven’t already and did enjoy it, and subscribe so that you don’t miss out on future blog posts and we get to that 200 followers goal. Anywho, I hope that you all have fantastic weekends and a month filled with goals being achieved.

Lots of Love

  1. Great goals! I never thought blogging course even existed! And there are manuals? Do you have any recommendations for me?

I too have the goal to lose weight. 5kg would be amazing but pretty unrealistic for me.
I’d love to get more interactions on my blog as well and most of all, find a good life/university balance, which I completely lack.

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks! I can’t recommend any blogging courses at the moment but the manual that helped me a lot was just a regular Blogging for Dummies book. I can totally relate to your goals and I wish you best of luck in achieving them! Let me know how it all goes 🙂
