There is that word. The dreaded presentation, cue a dramatic sigh from the audience. I’m sure that everyone has had to do some form of presentation at least once in their life. It could have been a speech or a presentation with a slideshow, or even just prepared reading, but I am sure that none of us have been able to escape doing a presentation. Nobody likes cleaning (okay I know that is a broad statement, but it isn’t common for people to enjoy cleaning so if you do happen to like cleaning, please ignore that statement) but it is something that we all have to do. One place we all have to clean though is our bedrooms. No matter where you live, whether it is with your parents, in a dorm or an apartment or house on your own, the one room that all of those have in common is your bedroom. Now some people don’t think cleaning is essential, but nobody truly wants to live in a messy space because it is not hygienic, it can make you feel claustrophobic, and it is simply not good for your mental state to live somewhere messy. The truth is that cleaning is hard work and sometimes the thought of it is draining enough that we never get to it. The idea of doing it is intimidating, but not I am telling you that it doesn’t have to be. As hard as cleaning can be, you can actually get your room clean quickly and efficiently in seven simple steps. Curious? Read more to find out these seven simple steps.
Stress is an everyday occurrence that, no matter how hard we try, we cannot really escape. There are things like work and school that seem to be perfect for getting us to freak out and turn into these gigantic stress-balls that are so pumped full of anxiety that we can’t do anything else but stress. Sometimes it is hard to escape this (because let’s face it, work or school will always be stressful at some point), but there are ways to deal with stress so that you don’t end up letting it control your whole life and everything you do. I mean let’s face it – we don’t want to be stress-balls every minute of the day because that is utterly exhausting and overwhelming and a waste of time and energy that we could spend on more positive things. I’ve had some issues dealing with stress in the past – ask anyone who knows me and they’ll tell you that I am a professional stresser and can stress about anything if I put my mind to it. The only problem with this is that it is not a very happy or peaceful way of living. So, after a lot of research and testing things out, I’ve created a list of tips that can help you deal with stress and even reduce it. Keep reading to see …
I love stationery. Whether it is pens, coloured markers, notebooks or washi tape, I can easily say that I am stationery obsessed. Though, with the popularity of the stationery market these days, how can you blame me? There are so many choices to make when it comes to starting or adding to your stationery supplies and collections – infinite colours and sizes and qualities that it all starts to swirl into a rainbow mess of creative equipment. My point is that there is stationery available for any situation that you could think of, and with this being said, it can be pretty easy to get overwhelmed by it all and decide to stick to that one black pen. Even though it is tempting to just say no to everything or walk out with your credit card balance dangerously far into the red zone, there are actually only a few essentials that can get you through almost anything. So, if you’re like me and need help stopping yourself from buying everything (or you just don’t know where to start because there are too many choices), then keep reading to see my list of stationery must-haves.
We all lead busy lives – be it work or school we can all get swept up in getting things done that sometimes we just need to take some time to relax. One of the best ways to relax, at least in my opinion, is just to put on something comfy, grab some popcorn or a hot drink and watch a movie. Movies are a great way to relax because they allow you to be comfortable and not focus on anything work related – all you have to do is eat your snack and get swept away by the story on the screen. That being said, sometimes it can be tough to get to your movie night because you are stuck picking a movie. There are thousands of movies out there in different genres, and sometimes that magnitude of choice is just overwhelming. If you find that you aren’t feeling up to spending time searching your movie collection or pouring through streaming sites, here are some awesome movies that you can watch (so that you don’t have to waste your chill time finding a movie – you can just go right ahead and start)
Sometimes it can be quite challenging to stay true to yourself. There are so many…
Laughing. Laughing is probably one of the most enjoyable things to do no matter who you are. It gives us a happy feeling and allows us to loosen up and feel lighter, but are there actually benefits to laughing? Tomorrow is the non-official holiday Moment of Laughter Day, so in honour of this holiday that should be made official, I would like to share with you all why laughing is so awesome and how you can do more of it (because let’s face it, we should be laughing more)
Life is full of ups and downs. I’d hope that most of us get lots of ups – where things are going your way, and you are riding the waves of the world like a pro. However, this is my sunshine and rainbows attitude without the reality filter. When that filter comes on though, you see that life isn’t always so awesome. Sometimes, you hit a rough patch, and it can mess with your momentum. You lose motivation to keep trying, and the thought of perseverance isn’t an option. You can’t let that happen though. Even though perseverance can seem incredibly hard, it only makes you tougher and stronger for next time the unkind part of life tries to knock you down. Recently, I hit my own rough patch. I started to think that I should just give up. My mom, however, spoke to me and helped me remember that it doesn’t matter how many times you fall, all that matters is that you get back up again. So if you are also trying to persevere through something challenging, here are some tips to help you with it!
Patrick Lindsay said that “Every new friend is a new adventure” but sometimes making new friends can be hard, especially if we might be shy or not confident enough to brave that newness. However, making new friends is so beneficial, and coming from someone with experience, it is possible to get past those nerves and make new friends. Don’t believe me? Well read more to find out!
Everyone tells you what to do in college, hardly anyone ever tells you what not to do (even though that is usually the most important). Here is my list of what NOT to do in a dorm room, for all those who want to make sure they don’t humiliate themselves on day one.
