Celebrating my 22nd Birthday

Helloooooo lovely hoomans!

So I’m taking a small break from writing about university to do a little appreciation post and reflection about my birthday this year – so heads up for a whole lot of cheesy thank yous!

As you might have guessed from my title, I just turned 22. Let me tell you, turning 22 was quite a milestone for me, probably more so than the typical ’21’ because this year I felt like I could truly celebrate, but it also comes at a time where I’m starting to think about what comes next. So yeah, the gravitas of 22 is really pushing the ‘impending adulthood’ button in my brain, and some of my friends reminding me that I’m older is reaaallllyyyyy not helping.

Now you might be asking – how did I end up celebrating my 22nd birthday?

Well, since the whole ‘adulting’ thing feels like it’s getting more and more serious, I decided the best way to celebrate would be to have the kind of fun you have as a little kid. I spent the entire day (or as much of possible, with the small exception of needing to go to a lecture) in my pyjamas, I had dessert for breakfast, and watched Disney movies in between calling my boyfriend and family back at home.

In terms of an actual party, I decided to extend the childhood whimsy and host … you guessed it …

A PYJAMA PARTY!!!!

I invited my closest friends over for a pyjama party with a few adult twists. There was a very strict dress-code of pyjamas only (onesies, blanket hoodies and funky tracksuits were acceptable too), I decorated my living room with confetti balloons and everything fluffy and comfortable I could find, we danced to music that definitely branded me as ‘old’ (the party hits from the 2000s and early 2010s) and finished the night off watching a film. We ordered pizza, ate loads of snacks and cupcakes, and of course there was popcorn and boozy hot chocolate with all the fixings. It was honestly the best birthday party ever!

The last thing I need to do is say a huge thank you to everyone who made my birthday so special this year. Of course, my amazing parents, grandparents and all the kind friends from home. My wonderful boyfriend, who always makes me feel special, and all of my incredible university friends. Just seeing all the thoughtful gifts, and reading through the incredibly sweet cards and messages from everyone made me cry – you all made me feel so special, and I cannot express how much I love and appreciate you all! Thank you for making this my most amazing, and memorable birthday yet!!

Right that’s it from me for this week – if anyone has any topics of interest for next week’s uni blog please feel free to share!

Until then, stay sparkly!

Lots of love
