Hey everyone! No matter where you are in the world, indoors seem to be where it’s at. By that, I mean COVID-19 is getting to the stage where it’s safer for everyone to stay at home just to reduce the risk of spread and infection. South Africa is having a 21-day lockdown starting tomorrow, so I too will be spending a significant amount of time in the not-too-distant-future inside the four walls of our house. With that being said, being stuck at home can be incredibly boring. I mean after a few days, things can start to get pretty dull and without being able to escape to the entertainment of the outside world, that means one needs to start getting pretty creative to keep boredom at bay. That’s what I’m going to try and do today – help give a few suggestions for how you can pass the hours at home and not succumb to the dullness of being ‘trapped’ at home. There are quite a few suggestions here, that can be quite adaptable depending on what you enjoy, so I hope you find at least one that can help you with your time at home during this difficult time.
I’ve been lucky enough to do a lot of travelling, and I tend to chat a lot about the great places that I visit. What I often forget about, especially when I see how often I talk about overseas locations, is that there are tons of great things about the city I call home. In Johannesburg, there are great things to do and Johannesburg is a beautiful city because it happens to be a lovely mix of city and suburbia all decorated with green trees and jacaranda blossoms everywhere. I think it is just that when you live somewhere, you often forget about all the great things that are right in front of you because you take them for granted that they will always be there. Well, I’ve spent a lot of time away from home this year, and I think that distance has helped remind me that while the places I have been are great, there is still a lot of greatness in my own city that I forget about. So today, in honour of Joburg, I’d like to share with you all ten fun things to do in Joburg. Whether you are a tourist looking for things to do or a resident who has forgotten some of the great spots right around the corner, here is a little demo of some of the great things one can do in Johannesburg. I hope you enjoy it!
Hey everyone! So I’ve spent quite a bit of time in dorms over the last six months, and have learnt a lot in the process. When you’re studying away from home and living in a dorm, no matter how long the course you’re doing is, it is very easy to get sucked up in getting assignments done, studying and just focusing on work. So when downtime somehow appears, because you’ve miraculously either finished all your work, have nothing to do or nothing urgent to complete, you now have the chance to have some fun. Now living in a dorm can bring some limitations on exactly what type of fun you can have in your down-time, so I’ve compiled this list of fun ways that you can spend your dorm down-time. You can choose one, or all if you have a lot of down-time, and adapt them to suit your personality and what you enjoy doing, but if you find yourself unsure how to spend your gift of free time then look no further. Here are some fun ways that you can spend your dorm down-time.
Oxford, a city famous for its famously academic, fantastic university but also celebrated authors, well-known filming sets and just loads of fun things to do. I’ve been in Oxford, England for the last eight weeks doing a short course, and as much as I’ve spent a lot of time studying and working, I have also spent lots of time exploring the city and trying to find fun things to do with all of my dorm mates. Thanks to our coordinators and lots of exploring, I have discovered that Oxford is not just a university campus. There are actually so many fun activities that you can do. So, if you find yourself holiday-ing in Oxford, or even in London (because Oxford is only a short hour and thirty-minute train ride from London), and are running out of things to do, why not try something from the list below?
