New year, fresh start. Getting organised for 2020!

It’s always such a refreshing feeling to start a new year on a good note, and what better note could that be than to get organised? Over the years, I’ve felt how satisfying it is to start off the new year by improving on things done last year, purging my life of unnecessary items and adding routines to my day to become more productive. Plus, by getting your life organised right at the beginning of the year, it doesn’t become a task that gets more and more daunting the longer you leave it. By getting organised in Jan, you have your entire year ahead of you and won’t be stressing about closet spring cleaning or an overflowing inbox in June or July. Plus, it also sets the tone for having an organised and successful year if you just get started now. So, let’s do that! This is the list of things I do at the start of every year, with some new additions, so that I can start off my year in a clean, organised environment and with all the tools ready for organised success. Why not give it a try yourself?

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Let us crush 2020!

Ugh!! I don’t know about you, but I don’t think anyone sticks to their new year’s resolutions. Maybe it’s just because of the term, or because everyone else is setting them, so why not? I think the real problem though is that we are blinded by the bright prospect of a clean slate year, so we set ourselves these resolutions that, while noble and fantastic, are quite hard to accomplish when reality overrides the optimistic dream. So let’s rather do goals, reasonable ones instead of resolutions. That way, we give ourselves more opportunity to succeed. A Reflection of 2019

2019 is drawing to a close, and that means not only the end of another year but also the end of the decade. I’m not sure about you, but that makes me feel old … and I’m only nineteen. So much has happened around the world this year and it’s been a roller coaster of experiences for me, and so I thought a nice thing to do would be to take two seconds and reflect back on the year. Until now I don’t think I really gaged the real value of reflecting but now that I am older and wiser (I can practically hear my friends laughing at me as I write this), I think that reflecting back on your past experiences is not only beneficial for learning purposes but also for mental reasons. We forget how much we accomplish over a year and sometimes it feels good to acknowledge all of the fantastic things we have done and experienced. So without further ado, let’s dive back in time and take a gaze back on the whirlwind of a year that has been 2019.

The Reasons Why I Love Christmas!!

The Christmas songs and movies all mention it briefly, but this really is the season to be jolly and the most wonderful time of the year. There are so many things that make this time special, including the fact that we have to wait all year just to enjoy it. Now everyone has their own reasons as to why the holidays are the best, but for a little Christmas special, and seeing as I have been speaking so much about it over the month, I thought I’d share with you all the reasons why I love Christmas and hence why it is my favourite time of the year.

Christmas movie watch-list!

In case it wasn’t clear already, what with all the Christmas-related blog posts and the abundance of holiday cheer I’m continually throwing out at all of you, I absolutely adore anything Christmas and movies are no exception. So … I’d like to invite you all to join a little challenge with me: to try and watch every single one of the movies on this list before Christmas. You can do it alone, with your partner or with your family but the goal of this challenge is to get you into the holiday spirit but also to force you to take some time for yourself and just relax with your snuggly blanket. So, without further ado, here is my list of favourite holiday films and my challenge for you to get that Christmas cheer going. Good luck!

Tips for Having a Healthier Christmas

Christmas is not exactly known for being a period of health consciousness and weight loss, and it tends to be a pretty unhealthy time of the year for most of us. If I had to just start thinking of all the calories in some of my favourite dishes, I’d probably start crying. What’s worse is that it is so easy to get swept up in the joy of festivities that we forget about our health entirely, and we end up starting the new year (with all of our health goals and new fitness programs) a little bit behind the starting line because of the holiday weight we’ve put on. So does that mean it is impossible to stay healthy over Christmas with all the temptation in our way? My answer is no. It is always possible to stay healthy, it just takes having the right attitude. Being healthy, though, doesn’t mean you have to heavily restrict yourself or ban yourself from enjoying the holiday flavours. All that is going to do is cause cravings, and then binges and no one wants that. For me, I’ll always indulge over Christmas. I will eat more than I usually do, and eat a little more sweet stuff than is in my typical day. However, that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to work on being healthy. I may do all of this stuff, but I will still keep up the exercise and try to look and go for the healthier option. So, here are ten tips for staying healthy over the festive season, if you are like me and want to have your Christmas cake, and eat it too.

Dealing with Tinselitis – a Case of Festive Season Madness

We all know how crazy the holiday season can get. While it is a magical time of year that many of us hope to enjoy, it can also get insanely busy and chaotic. There are all the parties to attend or host; gifts and gifts and more gifts; everything just seems so expensive; all the cooking and then cleaning up again; you have to decorate and make everything seem festive. There is so much pressure for things to be perfect and everyone else either seems overly enthusiastic or like they should be moving in with the Grinch before his heart grew. It’s as if the world has an extreme case of tinselitis and sometimes, even if you love/like/don’t mind the holidays, it just becomes too stressful to bare the festive season madness. Well, I am here to tell you not to worry because I will help you survive any stresses you have about getting through the madness surrounding the festive season. Keep reading for more

Best-ever Christmas Cookies (and what your favourite Christmas cookie says about you) :D

It’s official. December is here. And that can only mean one thing …

CHRISTMAS COOKIES!

Come on, be honest with yourself. No matter how healthy you are, or how much you say you don’t have a sweet tooth, I don’t think there is one of us who can resist getting into the holiday season by munching on a Christmas cookie. Let’s face it. We are all Cookie Monsters at this time of year, but who can blame us? There are just so many delicious treats to choose from. There’s gingerbread, sugar cookies, peppermint bark and much much more and the fact that they are in ample supply this time of year is just too much temptation to resist. This is the time of year where cookie lovers (and people in general) everywhere can eat and bake their hearts out. And the best part is that the holidays are a perfect no-judgement period.
