Hotel Quarantine Diaries #3

Day six – 15/08

Today was what I can only describe as a self-care Sunday kind of day. After a little morning workout and a bagel for breakfast, I decided that I would relax and spend a day just doing things that are peaceful.

I did no admin. I didn’t open my email. I only did a little bit of networking for my blog and responded to comments, and the only thing my laptop was used for was Netflix and watching movies.

I know I know that I’m in quarantine so technically I could spend every day like this, but I think I’ve learnt from a year and a half of on and off lockdowns that keeping busy, and then having one or two really chilled days helps you keep your head and not go nuts, instead of just chilling all the time because it really does get boring doing nothing but relaxing after a while.

Right, so in my day of relaxing, I drank over a litre of tea, dispersed amongst the tiniest cups known to humanity. I ate super delicious Japanese takeouts so that was a really great decision. I also enjoyed some of my chocolate supply and a glass of wine after a steaming hot bath, which is always a great way to relax (all those under 18 and those who don’t drink can skip that last part). Last but not least, I finally finished Modern Family!! OMG wow it felt so satisfying to finish the series, and even though I wasn’t really into it in the first season, I really got attached to all the characters and became super invested in the story. Has anyone else watched Modern Family? Let’s chat in the comments section!

Day seven – 16/08

Today is Monday… the start of a new week… except it could be any day of the week really because my days are all pretty similar. The only way I know what day it is, is when my mom talks to me about work and I see the blogs I have scheduled for the week.

Anywho, I got cracking on the editing work I need to get done, so most of the day was once again spent hunched over my laptop with my glasses on and doing a whole lot of reading and typing. I managed to get eight chapters done today so yayyy!! Lots of progress!

My pushup challenge is getting harder and sometimes I’ve had to skip one or two because I’m busy on a call or get distracted editing a chapter, but I am still trying to exercise every day. I’m planning to do loads of walking once I get out of quarantine though, and considering how little walking I’ve done since I left England, my unfitness will hopefully mean I burn double the calories (I know it’s probably not true but don’t crush my dreams!)

Otherwise, there’s nothing much else for me to share so I’ll see you all tomorrow!

Day eight – 17/08

It’s crazy to think that I’m almost done with quarantine now!!

I thought that I would start getting frustrated at this point, but I’m really doing fine with it. I’m not feeling claustrophobic or overly annoyed. I think the only thing that’s getting to me is the food isn’t too great, but thankfully there is the wonderful service of food delivery so I’m testing out a few of the restaurants near me via Ubereats and Deliveroo.

I am really starting to miss everyone at home though. Yes, I’ve had lots of calls and video chats with them, we keep in contact via whatsapp every day, and my boyfriend has even video called me so I can see my cat, the puppy and our other dogs. But, as we all know from the lockdowns, it just isn’t the same as seeing people face to face, and I really have no human interaction here apart from when meals and covid tests are delivered. Thankfully I’ll be out soon and even though I can’t see my family or boyfriend, I will be seeing some friends so that will be great fun!

I did my second PCR test today, making it I think my 10th covid test I’ve done. You’d think I’d get used to the sensation of something being stuck up my nose but it’s still really invasive. I don’t know how people who have to test all the time do it. So, if this test comes back negative, then I’m all set to be released on Friday!! YAYYYY!!!

Now something pretty exciting is happening today, and no I’m not talking about something lame like I’m getting takeaways or spiced up my quarantine routine. Today is the induction meeting for the Disney Society I talked about creating – we submitted all the documents, the committee reviewed our application and now we are an official society at my university!! What that means is now we can start planning all our events for the year, get ready for the Freshers Fair, and start fundraising and coming up with fun socials to host. I am so excited to have this meeting, and get cracking on making this society a real thing – if any of you have any ideas for weekly activities or events, please let me know in the comments section. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Anyway, I’m going to go and get prepped for my meeting, but thanks so much for reading this next installment in my hotel quarantine diaries! I’ll see you all soon!

Lots of Love

  1. That’s great to hear you’re almost done with quarantine! I get it about getting your nose poked. You really don’t get used to it. I saw a comedy sketch on doing an anal swab and it being more invasive. It was funny!

  3. Disney society sounds so much fun!!!!!!

Isn’t Modern Family the best??? I cried when it ended. That show was so positive and always made me laugh – I felt like I grew up with the characters. 🙂

Wuhu – almost through with quarantine. Fingers crossed for that negative report! ❤
