Now I know that not everyone may have started college yet for this year (as it only begins at the end of Jan or even early Feb), or those of you in the Northern hemisphere are well into the term and January isn’t such a big deal (because the school year starts in September). However, whether you are in school or college and whether it has started or not, the reality of getting back into it is undoubtedly there or is at the very least looming. I may not be starting university right now, but just because I’m not going back myself, doesn’t mean I am free of the impending reality. My younger brother just started at a new school, and most of my friends are getting ready for university (or are already back). So, for all of those getting back into the reality of academic life, I dedicate this blog post to you. Even if this isn’t the start of your academic year or you feel like you’ve got the whole ‘school’ thing mastered, here are ten tips for being a better student in 2020.

We are now well into January, the year is in motion, and I’m sure most, if not all of us are back to some form of work routine. Whether that means school or college or a job of some nature, I’m sure we are all back to that reality and working hard at it (if not, lucky you and I hope you enjoy the remains of the holiday). That being said, being back at work, especially after the oh-so-luxurious and leisurely Christmas holidays, can be quite a bummer. Days are long, there is undoubtedly pressure in some shape or form, and I’m sure that even if you’ve only been back for a few days, the little stresses are already starting to appear. If you’d like to read my tips for relaxing after a long, stressful day, keep reading 🙂
Now I know that tea isn’t the world’s most popular hot beverage. Even if I just look at my immediate family, I’m the only one who will pick tea over coffee. However, just because tea may not be as popular, doesn’t mean you should knock it until you try it. Because there are so many different types of tea, it means that different teas are good for different things. Besides that, tea is known to have several health benefits, and if you don’t like one type, I promise you that somewhere in the world there is a type of tea you will enjoy. There are too many possibilities for there not to be at least one that you don’t enjoy. So, as I sit here drinking some steaming tea in one of my favourite mugs, today I will be sharing with you some of the great reasons why you should try adding tea to your beverage list. Let’s begin
One of my new year goals, I’m not sure if you all remember, is to try to become more eco-friendly. Over the last few years, emphasised by the environmental ethics course I took last year, I’ve been thinking more and more about how I can be a better tenant on our beautiful planet. The world is quickly changing and the more damage I see done to the earth, the more I want to break down in tears about the fact that people don’t seem to be doing enough to stop the damage from becoming irreversible. While it may not necessarily be enough for one person to change the world, one person’s actions in terms of being more eco-friendly can still have a positive result, and so the thought that my actions may not make that much of a difference is no longer an excuse. Even if the things that I do can help a little, or inspire someone else to start initiating similar changes, then that is still more success than before. SO today, holding up my new year goal, here are some easy, eco-friendly changes you can make (these are the same ones that we are implementing in my house so I am practising what I preach, fear not) so that little by little, we can at least try to make a difference in keeping our beautiful planet alive and healthy.
Now taking a bath is pretty straight forward, right? Water, some soap and any other bath products you might feel like using. Essentially, that’s right but doesn’t precisely scream lavish relaxation or like a home-version of the spa. So, before you try to burn yourself in scalding water, follow these tips for a truly relaxing bath experience. Having a long, relaxing bath with just the right amount of products and the perfect ambience can melt away stress like you cannot believe. These tips will take you from an ordinary bath to having the ultimate home-spa experience. So get your bubbles ready and pour yourself a drink because it’s time to get your spa-bathing on!
It’s always such a refreshing feeling to start a new year on a good note, and what better note could that be than to get organised? Over the years, I’ve felt how satisfying it is to start off the new year by improving on things done last year, purging my life of unnecessary items and adding routines to my day to become more productive. Plus, by getting your life organised right at the beginning of the year, it doesn’t become a task that gets more and more daunting the longer you leave it. By getting organised in Jan, you have your entire year ahead of you and won’t be stressing about closet spring cleaning or an overflowing inbox in June or July. Plus, it also sets the tone for having an organised and successful year if you just get started now. So, let’s do that! This is the list of things I do at the start of every year, with some new additions, so that I can start off my year in a clean, organised environment and with all the tools ready for organised success. Why not give it a try yourself?
Christmas is not exactly known for being a period of health consciousness and weight loss, and it tends to be a pretty unhealthy time of the year for most of us. If I had to just start thinking of all the calories in some of my favourite dishes, I’d probably start crying. What’s worse is that it is so easy to get swept up in the joy of festivities that we forget about our health entirely, and we end up starting the new year (with all of our health goals and new fitness programs) a little bit behind the starting line because of the holiday weight we’ve put on. So does that mean it is impossible to stay healthy over Christmas with all the temptation in our way? My answer is no. It is always possible to stay healthy, it just takes having the right attitude. Being healthy, though, doesn’t mean you have to heavily restrict yourself or ban yourself from enjoying the holiday flavours. All that is going to do is cause cravings, and then binges and no one wants that. For me, I’ll always indulge over Christmas. I will eat more than I usually do, and eat a little more sweet stuff than is in my typical day. However, that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to work on being healthy. I may do all of this stuff, but I will still keep up the exercise and try to look and go for the healthier option. So, here are ten tips for staying healthy over the festive season, if you are like me and want to have your Christmas cake, and eat it too.
I’ve always loved hosting holiday parties, and it has been something I’ve done with my family for many years. There is really nothing better than a good get-together during the holiday season. Which is kind of the inspiration for my post today. I know how overwhelming even the thought of hosting a party can be before you’ve even gotten to the different parts of it but by the end of this post, all you should feel prepped and ready to host the ultimate holiday party! We all know how crazy the holiday season can get. While it is a magical time of year that many of us hope to enjoy, it can also get insanely busy and chaotic. There are all the parties to attend or host; gifts and gifts and more gifts; everything just seems so expensive; all the cooking and then cleaning up again; you have to decorate and make everything seem festive. There is so much pressure for things to be perfect and everyone else either seems overly enthusiastic or like they should be moving in with the Grinch before his heart grew. It’s as if the world has an extreme case of tinselitis and sometimes, even if you love/like/don’t mind the holidays, it just becomes too stressful to bare the festive season madness. Well, I am here to tell you not to worry because I will help you survive any stresses you have about getting through the madness surrounding the festive season. Keep reading for more
