A tea-drinker’s guide to coffee

For a person who avoids coffee like you cannot believe, I was amazed at how blind I had been to such an intricate, and seriously complicated beverage. My three Saturday’s of making and drinking coffee on a large scale didn’t exactly change me over to a coffee drinker. Still, it did give me a fantastic new understanding of the drink, a look into how detailed the process is and also a way to appreciate drinking it that doesn’t make me want to dash for the bathroom and rinse my palette. Just because I love tea, doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate coffee. So today, in honour of my new appreciation for this other popular hot beverage, I will be sharing an introductory guide to all things coffee. BUT, from the perspective of a tea-drinker.

It should always be tea time!

Now I know that tea isn’t the world’s most popular hot beverage. Even if I just look at my immediate family, I’m the only one who will pick tea over coffee. However, just because tea may not be as popular, doesn’t mean you should knock it until you try it. Because there are so many different types of tea, it means that different teas are good for different things. Besides that, tea is known to have several health benefits, and if you don’t like one type, I promise you that somewhere in the world there is a type of tea you will enjoy. There are too many possibilities for there not to be at least one that you don’t enjoy. So, as I sit here drinking some steaming tea in one of my favourite mugs, today I will be sharing with you some of the great reasons why you should try adding tea to your beverage list. Let’s begin

Best Hot Drinks for Wintery Days!

I love a good hot beverage. Whether it is to wake me up in the morning, relax me in the evening or just to keep me from turning into a popsicle on a cold winter day, hot drinks are the best. In South Africa, it is currently heading towards summer, so the temperature outside isn’t really conducive to drinking things that steam. It’s already so hot outside that rain steams off the road two hours after the storm started, so a steaming hot cup of tea isn’t exactly what you’d like. However, I’m not in South Africa right now. I’m on a little trip to the US of A for college-related reasons and much to my body’s despair and my tea obsession’s joy, it is wintery as can be this side of the world. So, in lieu of the fact that I’m spending a lot of time outside of beautifully heated buildings wearing many layers of protective thermals, the only thing keeping me going is the steady stream of hot beverages gracing my gloved hands. Today I will be chatting about the best hot drinks for wintery days – sharing my favourite steamy drinks with you and giving you a list for just in case you end up somewhere cold and need something hot and delicious to keep your spirits high and your hands warm. I hope you enjoy it!
