Blogmas Day 1 – Welcome to Blogmas 2021

Hello everyone!! It’s officially December, my favourite time of the year! Our calendars have flipped over to the very last month of what has been a roller coaster of a 2021 (let’s not get into it – that will definitely put a damper on the merriment), and that means one thing … It’s time to get to decking the halls, singing Christmas carols off-key, eating way too much food and… the official start of Blogmas 2021!!!

Now that it’s December, I can no longer be judged for blasting Christmas music non-stop, having way too much tinsel in my flat, or eating and drinking festive drinks. Thank goodness December has finally come – so now I can spread all of that joy with you!!

This is now my third year doing Blogmas and I won’t lie to you, I feel just as nervous now as I did the first time. I always forget how much time and energy goes into this campaign but somewhere between all the sleepless nights, planning and worry if I’ll get all my posts ready in time, there is so much happiness that I’m pushing myself to continue this challenge and hopefully share a little extra Christmas magic with the world. Now this first little bit of Blogmas is going to be interesting, and definitely a bit stressful on my side as I still have two weeks of uni left, complete with two assessments, Christmas events to host for my society and general work to get done, but what’s life without a healthy dose of challenge?

Welcome and Intro

In case you don’t know what Blogmas is, it’s a challenge/count-down/event where bloggers release a post every day from the start of December up until Christmas Day. Although, bloggers do put their own spin on it so it can be different for everyone. The posts typically all centre around Christmas, and holiday-themed content but it doesn’t have to and can cover any topics you’d like. This post is just a chance for you all (and myself) to slowly dip our toes into Blogmas. It’s a chance for me to welcome you all and let you know what you can expect over the next 25 days – so I hope you’re all just as excited as I am. I had lots of fun with Blogmas last year and I hope it can be just as jingly and merry this year!

For Blogmas, I’m going to be doing a range of different posts just like last year. They’ll include how-tos (for both recipes and crafts), Christmas favourites, some tips and tricks, stress, sustainability and a selection of guest posts from some phenomenal bloggers and close friends of mine. Those are just a taste-tester of all that’s to come though so be sure to stay tuned and keep up with Tall Blonde Tales every day to see the new post.

I will be focusing on Blogmas for the next month, which means an overload of Christmas-themed content in your feed/inbox. I have tried to incorporate some of the topics I usually talk about but with a healthy sprinkling of merriment and festive cheer on top. Some of them will be spin-offs from last year, and others will be some new funky ideas I’ve been brewing up so I really hope you like them! Guest post entries for Blogmas have closed, but if you still really want to take part in this, please reach out to me, and we can chat!

What’s the schedule for Blogmas?

So each and every day from today, I will be releasing a post that has something to do with Christmas, the holidays, or this magical time of year. However, after the 25th I’m going to take my first blogging break ever. I’ve decided that apart from maybe a welcome to the new year post, I’m going to take the rest of December and January off so I can relax, spend some time enjoying the holiday, getting my uni work sorted and hopefully finding my blogging spark again. Don’t worry though I won’t be gone too long.

How can you keep up with Blogmas?

I will be sharing all my Blogmas content through my blog, as per usual, and over Facebook. However, being the optimist I am, I am also going to try and get back into Instagram (for those who know me you’ll know that I’m absolutely awful at keeping things up to date through social media but I always aspire to do better). We all know though that these sorts of promises are meant to be broken, but depending on if I get my university work up to snuff, I might just be able to pull it off so you can follow me on Instagram too for (hopeful) updates, otherwise you’ll see me popping up in your WordPress feed and email inbox every day too.

What about you?

Are you taking part in Blogmas? Or have you sent guest posts to bloggers doing Blogmas if you aren’t taking part yourself? What are you most looking forward to this Christmas, and what content are you most looking forward to seeing on Tall Blonde Tales over Blogmas (who knows I just might do a post on it)?

I can’t believe it’s already time for Blogmas again. I’m so excited to be taking part in Blogmas this year, with new friends, new challenges and some new Christmas thoughts and traditions. It’s taken a lot of planning and even more hard work (not that staying up late to do work is new for me I am almost nocturnal now). I’ve gotten quite a bit of it ready for you all already, and more content with a festive twist in the making so I really hope you enjoy it. Here’s to a very festive, merry Christmas season, and I will see you all tomorrow!

Lots of Love

  1. It’s amazing to see you’re doing Blogmas this year too! I’ve been to your blog after quite a while since I was a little busy, but your posts are amazing and I can’t wait to read them all! Taking a break is quite nice sometimes, it helps with coming up with new ideas. Happy December!!

  2. Yay… exciting!

I’m not doing anything for Blogmas this year. However, the break from blogging I took in mid-October has lasted a little longer than I thought it would. I’m hoping to get started again with a new episode this weekend (although I said the same thing last weekend and it didn’t happen). I did write one post a week ago on my out-of-character blog, though.

The guest post I wrote for you is the only one I’ve written so far. I’m throwing around an idea in my head for a guest post for someone else’s Blogmas whose submission deadline hasn’t happened yet, but we’ll see. That may or may not get done.

      1. I ended up taking the part about the candles that I cut out from the story I sent you and wrote another story about that to send to someone else’s Blogmas. However, the more I think about it, that blog might not be the right audience for what I wrote, so if she doesn’t use it, I’ll save it for next year

Hopefully I’ll get time this weekend for the next episode of DLTDGB.

  3. Looking forward to reading each and every post, mostly some nice new recipes, thanks, how about your Gingerbread cookies, or is that still “family” secret. Now to get everyone “thinking” if you let the recipe out, your boyfriend and I can get Baking. xxxx
