Summer Competition Showcase: Entry #19

Heyyyy all my lovely readers!

It’s the end of another week, which means it’s time for another showcase piece! Today I bring you the last entry for the blog post category, a post all about summer vacation by Anshika. I really hope you enjoy today’s post!

                                                            SUMMER VACATION

Hello beautiful people, I’m Anshika Binjola from She the bald blogger. I would like to thank Tia for organising this fun competition and the”summer” theme is just awesome. In this blog, I’m gonna share about how I usually spend my vacations and also gonna confide some fun stories.

For me, the best part about the summer is the summer vacation.I usually spend my vacations in Uttarakhand, the Himalayan state of India. Now I’ve moved in with my grandparents but earlier i used to visit them every summer vacation. It’s the family reunion time. Our siblings and cousins joins us and that’s when the fun begins.

It’s the time when me and my cousins explore new things, try new recipes, dance and fight together. We really enjoy staying up late playing board games, video games and watching web-series or movies. That’s the favourite leisure activity for us. Also, not to forget summer is incomplete without the king of fruits that is Mango. We just loveee mangoes and sometimes we just fight over getting the biggest one.(Ain’t it crazy?). Lychee is another favourite fruit.

Also, that’s the time when my darling (not really.. lol) sisters get to raid my closet and ruin my makeup. Also they shoot challenge videos sometimes just to imitate the YouTubers and they hire me as DOP for that. Sadly, I don’t get paid for the work 😦 ..lol. But they are nice enough to provide me home-spa sessions. Other than that,we talk about future plans and gossip about some really amazing topics.

Since there’s a lot to explore in Uttarakhand. It is exquisitely located in the lap of Himalayas and is surrounded by nature and rivers. We really look forward to travel new places. We enjoy hiking in the forests, trekking in the mountains.

We usually enjoy forest trips and take food items, utensils with us, build a campfire and cook scrumptious food there. But at the same time we make sure to maintain the cleanliness of the place  because it’s our mother earth and hence it’s our responsibility to keep it clean.

And here comes the fun head massage (champi) session with grandpa wherein the grandpa rewards us with some chocolates and money for providing him a nice head massage. We are so ardent about it. He’s such a fun-loving person and great at recreating old movie scenes, singing songs and cracking jokes. He imitates the iconic movie Sholay’s gabbar scene really well and we enjoy his company so much.

Moreover, we narrate some horror stories. I remember the 2017 summer break. It was raining heavily that night and the lights were switched off. I was timid back then. So my cousins were confiding about their terrifying encounters just to make me tremble by fear. I was terrified and they were laughing at me.Somehow the night ended with terror but the next morning was a positive one. All is well that ends well.

What’s the purpose of vacation without trying adventurous things..right?!! Reminiscing those days, when we used to make tent house with the help of blankets. It was like a soldier camp to us. We had a defective landline telephone at our campus ( now you know how crazy we are). And to survive we grabbed some food items from the kitchen. Now that we’re all grown up ,we are not up to these things. But i wish i could live those days again.

I really wish Covid-19 to end so that we can enjoy such family gatherings again.

After spending the best days of the life together then comes the worst part, the end of summer vacation. We bid adieu to each other in a hope to meet again the next year.

Okay so I should end it now otherwise it would be boring for you to read. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as i enjoy writing it. Thank you.

What did you all think of Anshika’s post? I really loved reading about her summer experiences, although I know those have changed a lot due to the pandemic and all the lockdowns. What have been some of your adventures this summer? And do you have any plans for the rest of summer? Let’s chat in the comments section!

Lots of Love
