Blogmas Day Nineteen – Guest post from ‘The One Who Always Talks’

Tis’ the season to get Christmassy!

Welcome to Blogmas!

Tis’ is the season to be merry and jolly!

Well, it is.

And I’m feeling like an elf, I almost looked up for my pointy ears! And, you  must have noticed I’m not your regular author. Saw that, didn’t you?

Well then who AM I?

Well, folks know me as ‘The One Who Always Talks’ because DUH, I talk,  ALWAYS!

And……let’s get on with the Christmassy stuff!

But what if you’re not feeling all Christmassy, cheery and merry? If you want to  just snuggle up deep inside your bed and forget about all gift buying,

Then, you my friend have a big problem. Not even big, it’s humongous. You are  suffering from-

*gasp*

No, it’s not coronavirus.

It’s much more dangerous, you are under the attack of

HOLIDAY BLUES!

Oh my, bless you! Where did you catch that from?

Well, now that you’ve caught it. Let’s do something shall we? Being a common  patient of “Holiday Blues”,

Here’s my list of things to help you get up and blitzin’-

1.Christmassy Music

This is like the most obvious step in the world of obviousness. But  that doesn’t make it any less important! Get some classics (All I  want for Christmas is You) something energizing, (Jingle Bell

Rock). And totally random stuff you associate with the season of  gifts (like Lover by Taylor Swift).

2.Movies and books

Warning- Another obvious tip coming here. So, do you know the  things you see, hear and watch influence how your mind  processes? So, if you’ll see Christmas-related movies (Home  Alone is a total must-watch), read Christmas related books (Do I even need to mention, A Christmas Carol?) and hear Christmas related music (DUH, the first step) your mind will have no other  option than to turn into a whole walking-talking Christmas tree!  Phew, lot of Christmas used here.

3.Decoration

Bring out the ancient ladder and climb up to take out your  treasured box of decoration! Personally speaking, we have a lot of  memories with baubles. They’re like time-stamps of my life.  There’s a little paper bauble I made in grade 3, one my sibling  made in grade 5, photographic baubles etc. What I do with my  family is that, we kids, take out all the decorations one by one,  and our parents would remind us of the anecdotes that go with  them! It’s really fun and a perfect vaccine for “Holiday Blues”!

4.The Outer World

Now, this isn’t an obvious tip. But you what really helps me get out of my “blue as blueberry” mood? Going out. Now, now I  know, it’s COVID-19 time, and there are lockdowns. But that  doesn’t mean you can’t have a virtual Christmas experience! Just  go onto YouTube and type ‘Christmas celebrations’ or anything  related to do. You can even have a virtual Christmas Party! Hop  into your Christmas attire and have fun!

5.The Gifts and The Tree

We can’t forget the majestic tree, can we? As you probably have  recovered from ‘Holiday Blues’ by this point, so you just want to  get the tree up and the loving gifts all done. Well, again, Mr Covid  is there first. So if you can’t get a full-fledged tree, just get a small  dummy-thing. I promise it’ll be the same! It’s more about the  feeling of joy, rather than the materials itself.

Well, well. Looks like the “Holiday Blues” are long gone!  Congratulations! You won the Beating the Blues medal! And if you  didn’t have blues to begin with, you’re already carrying the medal.  Sneaky, hm?

I guess I won’t bother you anymore. Go on and start the process!  It was fun participating in the Blogmas 2020 with Tall Blonde  Tales! Until next time!

Now from me (Blondey on a Mission), I want to say a huge huge thank you both to The One who Always Talks for sharing such a fantastic guest post but also to all of you for reading today’s post and for following my Blogmas. With all of the abundance in holiday cheer and (sometimes) over-enthusiasm for everything sparkly, cinnamony and covered in tinsel, it can sometimes be difficult to enjoy the holidays if you may not be in that super cheery mood. I know that I definitely get the holiday blues momentarily throughout the holidays so I absolutely loved this post, plus it was just so fun to read and I hope you all loved it too!

Apart from that, that’s all I have for you all today – I hope you enjoy the last week or so of Blogmas!!

Lots of Love

  1. The Christmas Spirit does feel a little lost- we have our tree up with ornaments, the star, and there are presents. Our decorations are out. Even watching and listening to Christmas movies and songs.

However, I feel the Christmas Spirit strongest in church- Lessons and Carols and Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, but not happening. Well, on Christmas Eve, virtually we will have Lessons and Carols and Eucharist, but virtual.

      1. I am an optimistic person. I feel like that Christmas Spirit will obviously the strongest on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Still have doing some of our same family tradition- Cinnamon Crumb Cake at Breakfast is usually how Christmas starts. Around 10-11ish is when opening presents begin

But, I actually start at my opening my stocking- usually am first on up so I open my stocking.

      2. That’s definitely true I feel it does get stronger the closer we get to Christmas itself.

Oooh that sounds like an amazing tradition!! We have similar traditions where we start with stockings on our own and then at about 8am we all have tea/coffee and mince pies

  2. This is why we put our tree up earlier than usual this year. Needed some holiday cheer. And with it being only 1 week until Christmas, it doesn’t really feel like Christmas this year because with everything going on.

    1. I know that is the strange thing because so many of the normal festivities can’t go on because of covid so it doesn’t feel as Christmassy as it normally does. Hopefully you get some more holiday cheer to boost your festivities xxx
