8 in 1 blogging awards post!! Part one

Hey everyone! So these last two weeks have been a verifiable whirlwind for me. When I first started this blog I never imagined I’d make it past 50 followers … Now though, one and a half years later I’m nearing 500 followers and I’ve been nominated for the Liebster award, the Ideal Inspiration Blogger award, the Outstanding Blogger award, the Small Joys tag and the Vincent Ehindero Blogger award. Thank you so so so much!!

My mind = blown because getting nominated for just one blogging award, let alone ten blogging awards (including the two I’ve already posted about) in the last two weeks is a dream come true for me. Seriously I could not be happier or more grateful. It’s as if I’m mentally having a birthday party on Christmas at Disneyland – complete with confetti, fireworks and more. So, before I get down to answering all these amazing questions, I just want to say thank you!! Not just to the fantastic people who’ve nominated me, but to every single person who reads Tall Blonde Tales because this really would never have happened without you. YOU ARE ALL AMAZING!!I’m also super excited because I’ve never been nominated for any of these awards before so whoop whoop!!

Right, now let’s get down to it. I started off by wanting to do individual posts but now that I’ve been nominated for a few (well a lot) more than I ever anticipated, I don’t quite want to do 8 different posts so I’m just going to squish them into two or three bigger posts. This title has changed from 4, to 6, to 7 and now finally 8 so I’m going to be doing 3 awards in this post!! Buckle up everyone because I have a feeling this is going to be a long one …

Firstly, thank you so much to Chasing the Maximum Life for nominating me for the Liebster Award!! For those who don’t know Anjali from Chasing the Maximum Life runs a phenomenal lifestyle blog that you should really check out. She’s not only a fantastic writer and blogger, but also one of the kindest, and most amazing friends a girl could ask for so it would really mean a lot to me if you check out her blog here

Rules:

  1. Thank the Blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog
  2. Answer the 11 questions given to you
  3. Nominate 11 other bloggers
  4. Ask your nominees 11 questions
  5. Notify your nominees once you’ve uploaded your post.

Questions from Chasing the Maximum Life:

What made you start blogging?

I decided to go on a gap year instead of going to university, and since I’d always loved writing but had used high school and the subsequent lack of time as an excuse, I realised that I couldn’t use it as an excuse anymore. So, at the start of my gap year I launched this blog – as a fun way to document my year of experiences but also so I could get back into writing and establish a fun space for me to be creative without the pressure of writing something like an entire novel (I’m still struggling on that one).

What helps you most when you’re feeling stressed?

Hmmm … doing something that puts my mind at ease usually helps me. What helps me the most is having a hot bubble bath where I pour myself a cup of tea, put on a face mask and soak while I read a book. However, if I’m really stressed then a bath doesn’t help me relax so venting to my cat/pillow/boyfriend or baking something are my next most helpful methods.

What’s your beverage of choice?

Tea. No debate. Green tea, rooibos tea and chai tea are my favourites though – you can never go wrong with tea.

What’s cuter: kittens or puppies? Defend your choice

THIS QUESTION IS TOO HARD!! I really want to say both … but I suppose if I had to choose I’d say puppies just because puppies are so innocent and sweet and playful whereas kittens can still give you attitude and aren’t always in the mood to play/cuddle (plus they still have sharp claws even when they’re young).

What was your life like before the internet?

Definitely simpler. Most of my childhood was sans internet and it was definitely more peaceful/stress free as I spent more time playing, reading and being outside. Although that might also just be a function of me being a kid …

Do you follow a blogging schedule or write/publish when you feel like it?

I follow a blogging schedule. I’m a hyper-organised person so I like to have some kind of schedule no matter what I’m doing. I publish twice a week, and write on dedicated days because it helps me keep structure even when I get really busy, but I do sometimes find that I write a lot more/better when I do it ‘when I feel like it’ as opposed to at a designated time.

If you had an unlimited budget and one day to shop for anything, where would you go and what would you buy?

I would go to Orlando in Florida, to the Disney and Universal Theme Parks. I would buy all the memorabilia, costumes and fun themed items (like mugs, stuffed animals and hoodies).

What is one thing you could eat every day for the rest of your life?

Chocolate chip cookies. I could eat them forever; they are my absolute favourite (as long as I can still have them with a glass of milk).

What’s your favourite piece or outfit in your closet?

Hmm that’s a tough one … I guess I’d have to say my Hufflepuff hoodie or my big red coat.

What are you spectacularly bad at?

How much time do you have? Just kidding – I think I’m bad at a lot of things but one thing I’m spectacularly bad at would probably be handling spiders (or other scary insects) in my space. They honestly freak me out to a point where I cannot deal with them (or even sleep with a spiderweb in my room) so I don’t know how I’m going to cope at uni when I can’t call my dad to help me. I’m also spectacularly bad at dealing with confrontation … Let’s just say I don’t handle negativity or tension well.

Thank you so so so much again Chasing the Maximum Life for nominating me and all these fun questions!!

Thank you so much Kae from Hello City Girl for nominating me for the Ideal Inspiration Blogger award!! Hello City Girl is one of my favourite blogs – Kae is an amazing writer and she covers so many amazing, fun topics (my favourite posts so far are her skin care advice ones because they are so helpful – that glow up smoothie is delicious) but she is also just so great to talk to so I highly recommend checking out her blog if you haven’t already!

Rules:

  1. Thank the person who has nominated you and provide a link back to his/her blog
  2. Answer their questions
  3. Nominate up to 9 other bloggers and ask them 5 new questions
  4. Notify the nominees through their blog by visiting and commenting on their blog
  5. List the rules and display the “Ideal Inspiration Blogger Award” logo
  6. Provide the link of the Award creator of the Ideal Inspiration Blogger award as Rising Star from:  https://idealinspiration.blog

Questions from Hello City Girl:

What is the first thing people notice about you?

Probably my height or overly friendly personality.

If you were a drink, what would you be?

A chai tea latte. Sweet, a little bit spicy, full of festivity but also just a nice comforting presence at the same time.

Photo by Brigitte Tohm on Pexels.com

What would be the theme song of your life?

Probably the theme song from Friends. Life is full of drama and problems but with friendship you can get through it (and ‘I’ll be there for you’).

If you can be on one TV show, which one would you star in?

Following my previous answer … I’d have to say Friends. I’d love nothing more than to go through life hanging out with people who I have such a strong friendship with, and it seems like they never really work; they just hang about and drink beverages at the coffee house. What a life!!

If you were given the power to “rewind” or “fast forward” your life, which one would you choose?

Interesting question but I’d have to go with the “fast forward” option. I wouldn’t want to rewind and change things (I’m happy to live with the choices I’ve made), but because I’m quite anxious being able to fast forward to see my future or skip past turbulent bits would be a good choice for me.

Once again, thank you so so much Kae for nominating me for this award and your super interesting questions. Don’t forget to check out her blog!! (Seriously that smoothie is to die for).

Another huge thank you to Random Specific Thoughts for nominating me for the Outstanding Blogger award!!! She posts such amazing content (I fell in love with her Harry Potter reviews) and her posts have such depth while still being really fun and entertaining to read. You can check out her blog here (I’d highly recommend you do especially if you like Harry Potter).

This is not the official logo!! I couldn’t find the original one so I’m using one that was designed on Canva at Random Specific Thoughts

Rules:

  1. Provide the link to the creator’s original award post (very important – see #5)

This award was created by Colton Beckwith. Here’s the original post!

  1. Answer the questions provided
  2. Create 7 unique questions
  3. Nominate 10 bloggers. Ensure they are aware of their nomination. Neither the award’s creator nor the blogger that nominated you can be nominated.
  4. At the end of 2020, every blog that ping-backs the creator’s original post will be entered to win the 2020 Outstanding Blogger award!

Questions from Random Specific Thoughts:

Which is your least favourite book and why?

Oof that’s a tough one. I’m not sure if I have a least favourite book but a book that I really disliked was Turtle Diary. It had a really nice concept but it was just so dull and the plot felt very confused – it also took so long for anything to get anywhere and nothing really made sense.

What is the most useful lesson someone has taught you/you have learnt?

If it requires the same amount of energy to be nice and nasty, then why not just be nice? Being nice and putting positivity into the world may not seem like it does much, but it doesn’t cost you anything and the world could always do with a little more niceness. (plus it’s good karma).

If you could eradicate any one evil forever, what would it be?

I don’t know if this counts but humanity’s disgusting treatment of the environment and animals that live there. The planet and her animals have done nothing to us and yet we continue to wreak havoc on the natural world, destroy habitats, kill animals and cause them endless suffering. If I could put an end to that in any way I could – so the world and animals living on it could regain peace and stability again – I would.

What is the funniest experience you have had?

Watching my little brother fall straight through a hammock. I could not stop laughing and the very thought of it now still makes me chuckle, even though it happened years ago.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Caring, loyal, and optimistic.

What advice would you want to give to new and upcoming bloggers?

Don’t be scared to network with other bloggers. Blogging is so much more than your own site and you’ll have so much more fun, make more friends and learn so much more if you swallow any shyness and network/interact with other bloggers.

What was/is your favourite subject at school? And what are your current hobbies?

Music was probably my favourite subject in school because I only had 2 other people in my class, it was a really fun subject and we made waffles and drank hot chocolate together all the time. My current hobbies are reading, writing, building puzzles, cooking/baking and blogging.

Thanks again so much Random Specific thoughts for nominating me for this award and for the amazing, and fun, questions!!

  5. Aww thank you so much for the nomination 💕 I really look forward to answering your questions. And I loved reading all of your answers. I find it really heart breaking how some people treat animals and the planet too. And I really don’t understand it. Oh and by puzzles did you mean jigsaws or not? I love those, especially fantasy art style ones.
I agree that tea is fantastic. I literally don’t think I could go a day without it 😅 and snap on the spiders thing. Although by some miracle I did hold a tarantula twice. No idea how I managed it. Yet if I saw a big spider in my room I’d immediately go for help 😂 especially if they’re on the ceiling (I have such a fear of them falling on me 🙈)

    1. Of course you are so welcome I really look forward to reading your answers!! 💖 I know it’s so awful I hope we find a way to sort it all out … yes jigsaws I also love those art ones particularly disney painting/portrait style ones. Me neither I can’t live without tea🥺 omg how did you do that??😱 oooh I know that’s the worst I’ve had that happen a few times and it is soo scary🙈 thanks for reading and commenting xx

      1. Sorry for the incredibly late reply, I’ve been away from my blog and am trying to catch up now. And thank you ❤
Ooh I love some of the Disney ones that are around, especially Thomas Kinkade’s. I’m seriously hoping his Pochantos picture gets turned into a jigsaw one day.
I honestly don’t know. Random brave fluke? But yeah I agree they’re definitely the worse when above you. Or super fast moving
Speedy spiders always creep me out. Maybe that’s why I coped with a tarantula, it was big but didn’t move over much.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Nooo it’s absolutely no problem!! ❤️ yessss I’m so with you those Thomas Kinkade puzzles are gorgeous!! Oh yeah nope spiders are awful but you’re definitely braver than me I could never cope with a tarantula 😭

    3. I barely have any hobbies, But I am growing fund of heena nowadays, I just sit down and apply heena tattoos everyday! In paper or in my ownself! 😅
    4. The love that everyone is giving me inspires me to keep Blogging! WordPress is like a new home and you all are like a new family to me.
